A former aspirant for the Kangundo parliamentary seat has now declared interest to contest for the Member of the County Assembly (MCA) seat for Kangundo West ward.
Charles Mbuva, who came third in the last parliamentary race for Kangundo has now vowed to unseat the current area MCA, Mbiu Kanui when elections are called next year.
Also in the race is former Kangundo Town council chair, Sammy Mweki who also unsuccessfully contested the Kangundo parliamentary seat in 2013.
Mbuva and Mweki have rolled their sleeves to edge out Mr Kanui, who they accuse of allegedly failing to adequately represent the interests of Kangundo West ward residents at the Machakos County assembly.
Already, the incumbent Kanui, who was elected on a Wiper party ticket, has announced publicly that he had joined Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap movement on which he is expected to defend his seat.
On the other side, Mbuva has resigned from his former party, Ford Kenya, and has since joined Wiper party which is led by former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka.
That effectively makes Kangundo west ward contest to be most interesting considering the fact that the three key contestants come from Kakuyuni location.
