The independence party KANU has affirmed that they will back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August general election.
A section of KANU leaders speaking in West Pokot said that despite the skirmishes witnessed during the Jubilee nomination, President Uhuru is assured of their support.
“KANU still supports the President’s re-election bid despite the chaos witnessed. The mess witnessed cannot force us to change our stand. We shall support the President,” said West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo.
Lonyangapuo was speaking while issuing certificates to various aspirants who emerged victorious in the Saturday nominations.
He was accompanied with former Cabinet Minister Samuel Poghisio.
The leaders further called on Jubilee to learn from KANU on how to conduct primaries.
