Salat on Monday said the Jubilee government was keen to have the current IEBC commissioners remain in office despite Kenyans losing faith in the electoral body.

He said voices of Kenyans are against the electoral body conducting the 2017 general elections.

“The government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta must listen to the voices of Kenyans who have lost faith in the IEBC,” he said.

Salat said as a party, they support the electoral reforms being called by opposition leaders.

“We as a party are fully in support of the reforms that need to be made to the electoral commission ,” he said.

Salat said Kanu will continue to take part in the weekly anti-IEBC protests.

There have been claims that Kanu is planning to join the opposition ahead of the 2017 elections.

The party, has however, dismissed the claims saying it only supports the concerns being raised by the opposition leaders against the electoral commission.

Meanwhile, a section of youth in Ndumberi town, Kiambu constituency want opposition leaders and the government to talk and address the IEBC issue.

The youth on Monday warned that the protests by opposition leaders would destabilize the country and cause violence.

“Our leaders both in government and opposition must talk and put an end to the protests,” said Mburu Kimani, a youth coordinator in Ndumberi.
