Led by the Party leader, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, the party endorsed Kamuren to face off with the incumbent during a stop at in Marigat town.

Kamuren is a former unionist who replaced the late Kiprono Changole, who passed away under KANU ticket.

Political pundits say this will be a two horse race as Kamuren came second to Grace Kipchoim in 2013 election, loosing closely to the current MP who filed a petition that the election was marred with election malpractices.

The high court however upheld Kipchoim's victory dismissing Kamuren’s petition on grounds that it lacked solid evidence to nullify the election results.
