Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat has said that the party is set to join the newly formed opposition alliance NASA.
The party has scheduled a National Executive Committee meeting next week to finalise talks on the political route to take with regards to forging an alliance.
On Wednesday, Salat said NASA was the best outfit to propel Kenya ahead and that he was optimistic the coming NEC meeting would approve the move over to NASA.
“For me, I am still adamant, NASA is the way to go,” Salat said as quoted by the Star.
He further said that Kanu had for a week postponed a meeting to decide the political direction to take with Jubilee and NASA/Cord being the options.
He added that on his part, he would be using the NASA ticket to contest in the coming elections.
“I will be very much present in Bomet," Salat said.
The longtime Kanu SG and friend of Kanu leader Gideon Moi had been strongly criticised and even threatened with disciplinary action over his alleged association with with NASA.
He was part of the contingent that attended an opposition unity rally at the Bomas of Kenya earlier in January and said he was doing it as a representative of Kanu.
This comes after NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya revealed that Bomet governor Isaack Ruto has joined the outfit and is set to make public his move on Saturday.
The new realignments are set to complicate the formulas towards the August 8 polls and set it tough for Jubilee to retain their space at State House.
