A group of young people from Nakuru have come together to popularize KANU party ahead of 2017 general elections.
The group calling itself the “Nakuru County KANU Youth Movement” is comprised of young people from all over the county and according to their interim chairman Sam Gitau, the mission is to see KANU party take its rightful place in the next political dispensation.
“KANU is the only party that has stood the test of time. Other parties come and go but KANU has been there for the last 60 years. All we have to do now is bring younger people on board to reenergize the party,” said Sam.
Sam said this during a meeting between the youth group and the Nakuru County KANU secretariat at the KANU offices at KANU house Nakuru.
In the meeting that was presided over by Mr. Peter Oketch the County party secretary, the youth outlined their goals which included carrying out a massive recruitment drive especially among the young people.
Others in attendance were the branch organizing secretary Burton Nyaga, outgoing youth leader Evans Ekariche and Richard Mukolwe the executive officer at the Nakuru County branch.
Mr. Mukolwe advised the youthful members to seek elective posts via the KANU ticket and encouraged them not to waver in their resolve to revive the party.
“We all know that Nakuru sets the political tone for the entire county and what you have started will spill into other counties. Don’t give up in your quest and the party shall give you all the support. All you have to do is act within the party policy,” Mukolwe said.
