A major political row is looming in the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party over party affiliation ahead of the 2017 political campaigns.
The latest developments in the party emerged after Nick Salat, the party's secretary-general shifted to support the opposition coalition in what other leaders in the former party termed as 'confrontational politics'.
West Pokot senator Prof John Lonyangapuo criticized Salat for taking the party on the wrong course contrary to the party's mutual consensus.
"I hereby wish to remind Kenyans that KANU party stands for peace, unity and love for all Kenyans. We do not subscribe to any form of confrontational politics. As a giant party, like many other political parties including our rivals and not limited to JAP, we want IEBC as a body to be reformed before elections,” read a Facebook update by the senator.
Lonyangapuo further reiterated that the party's governing council would be meeting soon to consider a disciplinary action against Salat.
Whatever our Secretary-General is doing in Cord rallies lies with him, and does not in any case represent KANU's position as a party.
All KANU affiliate members and Kenyans at large, should therefore not listen to Salat. Very soon KANU top organ will meet to discuss the unbecoming activities of Hon Salat.
