West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo and the Nominated lawmaker Zipporah Kittony had claimed that Salat acted as an individual and that Kanu was not in the opposition.

However, several party officials from the region said Salat consulted them before leaving for the meeting.

Addressing the press on Thursday, Elgeyo Marakwet branch Vice Chairman Paul Kibet said they told Salat to represent the party at the meeting.

“Salat is spokesman of the party and he did not attend the meeting without consultation as claimed. We told him to do so as grassroots officials of the party," he said.

Kibet pointed out that Kanu members were among the Kenyans affected by poor leadership by the jubilee administration.

“When we go for the NDC of the party we will endorse the decision taken by Salat at Bomas of Kenya," he said.

Salat signed documents committing Kanu to the National Super Alliance.
