Kanu leaders in West Pokot County were forced to leave a church function in Sook, Kapenguria after a crowd chased them for alleged disrespect to other leaders.
Senator John Lonyangapuo and Samuel Poghisio among other leaders affiliated to Kanu, were forced to leave after a group of youth heckled them over claims of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
Trouble started after Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who represented Ruto faulted some parties for not joining the Jubilee party.
Murkomen allegedly likened area residents to cattle at the market.
“Let’s join Jubilee so that we can benefit from the national cake. Jubilee has changed Kenya in 3 years and you cannot divide Marakwets and Pokots by saying Marakwets did not benefit from government slots. If Pokots get, Marakwets get, because they are one people,” said Murkomen.
