The Jubilee leaders say they read mischief in the deal which saw Kanu leaders change their minds to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

They claimed Kanu leaders, led by Gideon Moi, only want to gain popularity by supporting Jubilee candidate.

"They should swallow the humble pie and join Jubilee, which is the biggest party," Governor Kachapin said, adding that Gideon should support Deputy President William Ruto come 2022.

"They are confused because you cannot say you support Uhuru and not his Deputy. This is immature politics, which has been overtaken by time," he said, as quoted by Nation.

Other leaders who echoed the governor’s calls are:  Pokot South MP David Pkosing and former Kapenguria MP Julius Murgor.

MP Pkosing said Kanu supporting Uhuru’s candidature was of little significance, and that he can still win without their (Kanu) endorsement.

Kachapin decamped from Kanu last year and joined Jubilee.
