Speaking in Marigat, Senator Moi said that KANU worked with Raila Odinga's Cord to remove the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners after alleged rigging in the Kericho Senatorial by-election in March.

"We only support Cord because we have a common agenda of removing IEBC after it bungled the Kericho senatorial by-election. We don’t want a repeat of the 2007-2008 election violence. That is why we don’t want the current IEBC to referee the next election," Moi was quoted by a local paper.

The party's secretary general Nick Salat joined the anti-IEBC protests in solidarity with Cord creating speculation that the party was warming up to the coalition.

KANU had contested the results of the Kericho senatorial by-election which its candidate Paul Sang lost to Jubilee Party’s Aaron Cheruiyot.

The independence party questioned the credibility of IEBC and called for its overhaul ahead of next year's General Election.

The Baringo senator also said that his party will honour the coalition pact signed in 2013 between it and the Jubilee Alliance until 2022.

"When we reach 2022, we shall decide what to do. What we want now is development. Issues of 2022 will happen in God’s grace," he said.
