KANU officials in Nakuru now want an automated registration system to help in the deregistration process.
The Interim Chairman Sam Gitau said it had been a difficult task for people seeking to join the party to deregister from their previous political parties.
“One is required to fill out so many forms and take them to the Registrar of Political Parties at Lions place in Nairobi so as to be struck off from the parties register. This has been quite a challenge as it is expensive and many cannot travel that far seeking to be removed from the parties, “said Mr Gitau at a press conference in Nakuru on Monday.
He added that an automated system would make it possible to be immediately struck out of a party immediately you registered into a different one.
Gitau challenged IEBC to mandate their county offices to be able to carry out the task.
“We are approaching various aspirants including governor and senator seats. We intend to at least capture 30 MCA seats in the county which would make it a force to reckon with in the country,” he added.
Gitau said that there has to be a regime change in the county, pointing out that the poor management of the parties which the current leaders won their seats with is also to blame for the poor job executed on the ground.
Jackline Chebet, the Interim vice chair, said they were already mapping out serious candidates country wide.
“We have been on a campaign trail to Gilgil, Naivasha and Molo seeking to have more youth join this party as they stand to benefit a lot. We have also been targeting form four leavers who have just gotten their ID cards and want to belong to a political party. We feel that this is their best option,” she added.
