West Pokot Senator John Longanyapuo has dismissed claims that the independence party, KANU, will not support Jubilee government in 2017 polls.
Chairman Gideon Moi has been at loggerheads with Deputy President William Ruto as the scramble for Rift Valley political kingpin intensifies.
On Sunday, Longanyapuo insisted that KANU had no intention to oppose President Kenyatta by supporting an opposition candidate adding that it will only field candidates in other seats.
“Deputy President there is propaganda that KANU will oppose President Kenyatta. That is a lie that has been brought to Nairobi and we should dismiss it,” he said.
“We will however field candidates in other elective posts across the country. The fact that we do not have an intention of joining Jubilee does not mean we will not support the president,” he said.
KANU Secretary General Nick Salat has been seen in several functions spearheaded by the opposition coalition Cord in the past months.
