Independence party KANU has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to drop his hardline stance and dialogue with NASA leader Raila Odinga.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, KANU officials challenged the Head of State to engage the Opposition to end the current political stalemate in the country.
"For sure, we are headed in the wrong direction. It will be of no use for Jubilee or NASA to force their way when the country is on fire," KANU Elgeyo Marakwet branch chairman Paul Kibet stated.
He noted that it is almost impossible for the country to hold polls in the current political situation.
"Time has come for President Kenyatta not to bury his head in the sand while the country is on the brink of chaos," he pointed out.
"Let him reach out to all Kenyans and unite the country as soon as possible," he added.
Despite the calls, Deputy President William Ruto has remained adamant that the Jubilee top leadership will not engage the Opposition.
