KANU’s nominated senator Zipporah Kittony maintains that she will retire from active politics later on this August.
The veteran politicians known for her spirited fight against FGM and immaculate role in women empowerment, has been a supporter of Kenya’s independence party KANU.
And on Monday in a local TV interview, Kittony said she had no intention to remain in politics due to her advanced age.
“I had my time and I served to the best of my ability. I will retire peacefully and hopefully we shall have peaceful elections,” she said.
Kittony added: “I have seen women leadership progress over years and I am happy that we have reached this milestone. It is time for me now to retire.”
Kittony is daughter to former powerful Kanu strongman Isaiah Chesire and brother to former Eldoret North MP Reuben Chesire.
