Former Limuru MP Kuria Kanyingi has died in India following a long battle of cancer.
A close family source said that the former KANU powerful leader passed on while undergoing treatment of stomach cancer in India.
Scores of Limuru residents have sent messages of condolence to the bereaved family and expressed their shock over his death.
"Kanyingi was a ‘man of the people’ who was conscious of the development projects in Limuru," said Peter Mwangi, a Limuru resident.
“We have lost a powerful leader who sacrificed his life to serve the residents of Limuru,” said Susan Njeri, another resident.
Kiambu TNA Josiah Kuria said that the deceased will be remembered for steering development in Limuru.
“Kanyingi has been in the forefront in spurring the growth of Limuru residents," said Kuria.
The veteran politician made his debut in politics after he was elected Limuru MP in 2002 - 2007.
The powerful leader in KANU regime had initiated several projects in education, water and health.
