National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairman has urged all Kenyans to unite despite their political affiliations to decisively deal with constant terror threats and attacks from Al-Qaida Linked Al-Shabaab.

Speaking at Kisii University during annual thanks giving prayers, Francis Kaparo said it is the obligation of all Kenyans to ensure the nation is secure for smooth running of the economy and subsequent creation of employment.

“We have no option but to unite as a nation. These people have executed innocent Kenyans and if we approach them divided, they will have an upper hand of disintegrating the nation along religious lines,” he said.

He called the opposition to work closely with the Jubilee government to ensure security is beefed up and emphasized his confidence on recent appointment of Kajiado Central lawmaker Maj Gen Joseph Nkaisery to the powerful Interior Ministry.

“Opposition team should work closely with the government to ensure culprits get are brought to book. I know Nkaisery has immense experience in matters pertaining to security and I have no doubt that he will perform as expected,” he said.

The former Speaker of the National assembly also asked police and all security organs to be vigilant at this time and work closely with the locals to combat persisting unwarranted attacks by terrorist groups to innocent Kenyans.

He retorted that the police and other security agents are mandated to work with all Kenyans to prosecute those disturbing our peace.

This comes few weeks after more than 64 Kenyans perished in perilous separate attacks in Mandera County. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility.
