The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has cautioned that the country risks experiencing the post-election violence as was witnessed in 2007 if the standoff between the Cord and the IEBC is not resolved.

NCIC chairperson Francis ole Kaparo said Tuesday the activities being witnessed across the country every Monday were a recipe for chaos.

"Kenyans have not yet forgotten what transpired during the 2007-08 election violence and therefore I urge the leaders to embrace dialogue for the well being of the country," said Kaparo.

The former National Assembly speaker noted that as a commission, they were concerned with the ongoing events and want the concerned parties resort to another more inclusive conflict resolution technique before the worst happens.

"What we are seeing is dangerous and ought to be treated with the seriousness it deserves. Unless Kenyans stand firm and desist from those activities, we will suffer again," he told journalists In Nairobi.

According to Kaparo, politicians were misusing their power to sway crowds by inciting their supporters into unwanted demonstrations to solve issues that could have been solved amicably through other non violent means.

"Don't allow these politicians to play around with you, this is not a football match where the referee will signal the start and the end. Let us be very cautious because the end result is what divides us as a country," he warned.

Cord is staging weekly protests across the country every Monday in an attempt to force IEBC commissioners out of office before the 2017 general elections saying they don't have confidence in them.
