National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has cautioned Kenyans against spreading hate speech messages via social media platforms.

NCIC chairperson Francis Ole Kaparo warned social media users of dire consequences to those arrested propagating hate.

"We are closely investigating a total of 273 individuals hate mongers, groups and pages across the social media platforms," Kaparo noted during a press briefing in Nairobi.

The former National Assembly Speaker urged Kenyans to reject divisive politics and remain peaceful as they wait for repeat presidential poll slated for October 17.

"The commission calls on Kenyans to exercise tolerance, respect for diversity and work with law enforcing agencies by providing information about those inciting the members of the public," Kaparo urged.
