The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has called on media owners to ensure they vet political analysts before they invite them for live shows.

NCIC chairman Francis Kaparo on Thursday said that a number of analysts were biased and have been only championing their agenda without putting in the implication of their statements.

He also expressed NCIC's concern over the emergence of fake news propagated on social media.

“The commission is concerned with the emergence of fake news on social media that is intended to incite, misinform and manipulate public reaction. Those involved should stop that habit immediately,” he said.

He also urged the public to treat with caution any sensational news.

Kaparo further called upon IEBC to follow the law and give a free and fair election process to avert any crisis in the country.

“IEBC must realize that there is a direct link between the ability to conduct a free and fair election and peace and stability in this country,” he noted.

“Today as never before, the peace fabric of Kenya is intricately interwoven with the conduct of credible election hence decision taken by IEBC must have a direct impact in shaping Kenya’s future.”
