Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Agnes Zani and National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Chairman Francis ole Kaparo have differed over the preparedness of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to hold the August 8 general elections. There was drama at the Second Annual Legislative Summit at Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort in Mombasa when Zani exceeded the time she had been allocated by Kaparo to ask questions. Mr Kaparo attempted to stop her from continuing with her presentation but Zani defied the orders and continued to express her concerns over the preparedness of the commission. Zani said it is evident that IEBC is not ready for this year’s polls but the commissioners do not want to admit it.“There is a problem with the voters register that should be accessed by all political parties for scrutiny. When we ask questions we are told that we are not within reasonable margin. What is reasonable margin?” asked Zani, as quoted by Nation.Zani went on with her argument as a section of leaders at the summit cheered her on. The NASA coalition, led by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper Party Patron Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula have been questioning the readiness of the commission to conduct fair polls in August.
