Speaking on Thursday in Nakuru during a peace Dialogue meeting between Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties communities Kaparo regretted that complaints from affected communities are that the suspects who rock mayhem are known yet they are not arrested.

He aurged all political leaders to be ambassadors of peace especially in warring communities so that to end the conflicts being experienced.

“What we want is peace in these counties and we can do this by identiftying thoise engaged in the cattle rustling activities and arrest them.I regret that those engaging in criminal activities are known but we fail to arrest them hence my appeal to the security agencies to up their game and politicians to be ambassadors of peace” he said.

The NCIC Chair revealed that his commission will ensure such peace dialogue meetings are held even at the grassroot level with one agenda,to preach peace nationwide.

Kaparo noted that in many parts of the nation he has visited,Kenyans are begininnig to embrace dialogue as way of solving conflicts peacefully and therefore appealed to the ploiical leaders to shun politics of division but rather reason together in ending conflicts.

“Let us not use the firearms to cause conflict but let use them to arrest the criminals in the society and the law take its way”he said.

On his part, Baringo County Commisisoner Peter Okwanyo called on the residents of Kenyans to shun tribalism which he said is the root cause of conflicts.

“The truth be told, what is hailing us in this nation is tribalism and thus the reason behind even the cattle rustling. Let us shun tribalism and we shall be in peace”said the administrator.

Their sentiments come barely days after conflicts were experienced in Kerio Valley with Riftvalley regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo sounding a warning to the illegal firearm holders.
