Officers from the County Government of Uasin Gishu on Thursday swung into action and worked to avert possible destruction as Kaprobu dam threatened to rip off its banks.
County Executives Eng. Gideon Birir (Roads) and Mary Njogu (Environment and Water) oversaw draining of high volumes of water at the dam.
The outlet was initially narrow due to increasing volumes of water which caused intense pressure and pushing the water to find alternative weak points as overflow.
However, action by the County Executives was sublime, the outlet was widened and the dam was relieved of the pressure.
The County is now urging residents to report any faults spotted in all the dams even as 'mother nature' continues causing floods across the country.
