Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has encouraged needy but bright students in the constituency to apply for bursary funds in order to continue with their studies.

Speaking to the public on Sunday in Kapseret Town, Sudi said the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee is giving out bursary funds to the needy but bright students who have applied for them.

“I am urging parents and guardians who have needy but bright students to help them fill the bursary application forms so that they can get the bursaries,” he said.

Sudi said that the CDF committee has compiled a list of eligible beneficiaries who will benefit from the funds.

He noted that CDF has seen many needy students in the constituency continue with their studies. The MP urged the county government to fund some of the education programmes in the constituency.

The legislator said that education standards in Uasin Gishu will improve if stakeholders get involved. The lawmaker at the same time called on the government to speedily recruit more teachers.

“I will keep on reminding the government that we need more teachers not only in Kapseret but across the country,” he said.

Sudi said that shortage of teachers is likely to hamper education standards in the country.
