The residents have now asked the Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (Nawassco) to move fast and close the kiosks before the situation degenerates into disaster.

The residents further accused the kiosk owners of working in cahoots with some Nawassco officials to sabotage the water supply to their residences.

"I am surprised that while my taps are always dry, these kiosks never seem to lack water. It is because of such kiosks that we hardly have any water," lamented Dickson Njagi.

Another resident who only identified herself as Mama Shiro, equally expressed her frustrations with the kiosks, and further accused them of hiking prices.

"It is not lost on us that these water kiosks recently threatened to hike prices and true to their colours they have just done so. Where is Nawassco to come to our aid? she posed.

However, efforts to reach any officials at the county water company hit a dead end as their phones went unanswered.
