Kaptembwo Member of County Assembly Daniel Ambane Odindo has attributed the floods in the area to the ongoing road constructions. Ambane cited that the contractors had blocked the drainage system hence it became hard for the storm water to flow “The storm water came from London and Bangaladesh to Gilanis estate and swept houses early last week. Majority of the residents are now living in fear of being swept away by the rains early last week” he cited Ambane confirmed that 22 families had been displaced and had sought refuge in their family and friends houses. “The rains swept away everything forcing them to start afresh. Most of them are casual laborers and do not have a stable form of income” he cited He appealed to the county government to offer the displaced a sum of KSh10,000 which will help them rebuild their lives. “Most houses had even their kitchen equipment swept. Their walls and doors were broken down forcing them to move out,” he added He appealed to the county government to come up with an emergency kitty for such occurrences. “We need a proper fund that will enable us to come to the immediate aid of the affected people,” he added
