Kisii County Commissioner Samuel Karanja has warned politicians against engaging in hate speech adding that the government will not hesitate to take a legal action against them.
Karanja who was speaking on Monday during Jamhuri Day celebrations, tasked local administrators to monitor politicians during this electioneering period.
"As the security officers, we will not allow politicians to divide our people by engaging in hate speech. We all want peaceful elections and nothing short of that," he said.
"I have instructors local administrators to monitor politicians so that an appropriate action is taken whenever we find culprits. The law must be respected failure to which, the state shall take an action," he added.
Karanja also urged leaders to be tolerant to one another and moblise their supporters to observe election rules to avoid stiff penalties.
"Politicians should also learn to tolerate one another. We are a family because elections will come and go. The same shall apply to their supporters to avoid stiff penalties," he said.
