Gatundu North residents have been guaranteed improved security in the sub county after a series of robberies in Makwa and Karatu villages.
According to the sub county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti, enough police officers have been deployed at the two robbery hot spots to ensure that residents live in peace.
Nyamiti told the media on Sunday in Gatundu grounds during a ceremony of Kuria-Waititu release from remand that security officers have been deployed to all packed areas in Makwa and Karatu to safeguard the locals.
He revealed that he had received over 20 complaints of robbery activities happening in Gatundu North, but was yet to receive other officers. He vowed to make security of residents his priority, citing that it was their constitutional right to be secure.
"I however beseech you to cooperate with the police through joint exchange of information in order to pawn criminal elements," he said.
He asked coffee and tea factories located in the sub county to ensure that their institutions are thoroughly inspected by conducting scrutiny of individuals thronging their premises.
"Among the officers that will be deployed in Karatu and Makwa which have been reported hot spots of robbery are those who have reported back to duty after taking their yearly leave," he said.
He cautioned drivers against drunk driving and speeding, asserting that many lives are lost on the road in carnage as a result of careless driving.
