Karenga location chief Nancy Ndung’u has lauded residents for embracing the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

The chief noted that crime has gone down following the introduction and adoption of Nyumba Kumi initiative.

Speaking to HiviSaSa.com at her office in Lari yesterday,  Mrs Ndung’u said that the area was a no-go zone before but security has been restored thanks to Nyumba Kumi.

“I can tell you that Karenga village was a playing ground for all manner of criminals before, but now things are different - it is the safest place in Lari Sub County,” she said.

The Chief further lauded residents for maintain good relations with local administration leaders and law enforcers.

She said that residents have been providing crucial information to the police a move that has seen crime rates go down.

The chief urged villagers to maintain the good working relations with the police noting that it will help weed out criminals that might be tempted to cause problems.

She also asked villagers to be vigilant and report suspicious people to security agencies.

Mrs Ndung’u said that the recent terror scares in some parts of the country should be a wake up call to every citizen to be alert.

“We know the enemy could be among us haence the need for each and every one of us to be vigilant,” added Ndung’u.
