Kisii County Education Board (KCEB) chairman Henry Onderi has cautioned BOM members who are overstepping their mandate by chasing teachers from schools.
The warning comes due to the recent incident whereby the BOM members of Kari Primary school led by chairman Antony Ondieki locked out the new head teacher.
Addressing the media in his office the chairman has accused the BOMs of overlooking the education act which does not allow them to interfere with the transfers of school heads and teachers.
“No board members of any school are mandated to chase heads or any teacher from school, what we have heard from Kari primary school is shocking and we are going to take necessary actions,“ said Onderi.
On the other hand, the sub-county director of education Mr Charles Nyaribo has said he will record a statement with the police to launch an investigation over the allegations.
The Kari primary BOM chased the new head teacher by accusing education officers of not involving them during the transfer as they wanted the deputy to be promoted after the former head teacher was elected to head the KNUT secretary post.
