Thika Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina on Saturday launched the construction of Karibaribi Road that transverses Thika town.
This follows a prolonged cry by the residents who have repeatedly urged the government to repair the road. The exercise which has started today will see the road constructed afresh as it is beyond repair."We will have to rebuild it since it is beyond repair,” said Wainaina. He added that the repairs were supposed to start last week and end in January but Christmas hindered that.Wainaina said they will be sourcing for money from donors and government funding. He says they have been assured of the money and allowed to proceed with the exercise. The 15km road has received some money which he says is not enough but will help."This money though not enough, will help us a lot. The government has assured us that by next year it will get us some funds to put tarmac on the road,” he said adding that the remaining part will be funded by the government.
