According to Karua, Miguna did not deserve the humiliation meted on him by the Kenyan authorities.

The former presidential said that Miguna’s issue could have been handled in diplomatic way instead of him being subjected to cruelty.

“I don’t support the manner in which General Miguna has been treated because clearly his rights as a citizen have been violated,” she said told journalists at the Supreme court in Nairobi on Wednesday.

Karua said that while it was mandatory for Miguna to produce travel documents upon landing from Canada on Monday, the government should have handled his case basing on the court orders that had been issued for his return.

The former MP who unsuccessfully, contested for the Kirinyaga governor seat in last year’s general election, also slammed   the Jubilee government for ignoring court orders in regards to Miguna’s case.

She said that the government has no excuse to why it ignored the court order for directing for Miguna’s release.

“This growing culture where court orders are blatantly ignored will come to haunt this country and it is time Kenyans stood and demand for respect of the law,” she said.

Miguna was deported to Dubai on Wednesday night days after jetting into the country from Canada where he had been deported earlier.

On Wednesday, High court judge George Odunga convicted Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Immigration Director Gordon Kihalangwa for contempt.

The three government officials disobeyed court orders requiring them to personally produce Miguna in court.

Miguna’s second deportation continues to elicit condemnation in the country and across borders.
