Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid has received a major boost after former presidential candidate Martha Karua supported his bid on Saturday.
Ruto, who has since supported President Uluru Kenyatta’s re-election, is facing a rebellion from his Rift Valley backyard, which is spearheaded by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who will also be running for presidency in 2022.
But Karua maintained that the DP has done ‘extremely’ well in uniting Kenyans at an hour of need and that she will fully back him.
“No one thought that Rift Valley can work with Central Kenya until William made it possible,” said Karua, who is eyeing Kirinyaga governorship.
The Narc-Kenya leader added: “we can only reward him by making him the boss in 2022. That is the spirit on nationhood.”
Previously, Karua was a staunch Jubilee Party critic before declaring his support for Kenyatta’s reelection.
Also, outgoing Nairobi Women Representative maintained in the Bomet rally that Central Kenya community will be backing Ruto.
