Karua noted that President Kenyatta’s tactics to tame graft are not working and have instead given looters time to swindle taxpayers' money.

According to the NARC Kenya party leader, the Jubilee government's efforts in fighting graft are not bearing fruits.

Karua said the country risks running bankrupt if corrupt government officials are allowed to continue looting public resources.

“The President has to urgently review his approach in the fight against corruption if he wants to leave a commendable legacy,” she said.

The former MP said President Kenyatta needs to stamp his authority in the fight against corruption.

“Questions need to be asked and answers given as to why NYS has become a cash cow for some people,” she added.

Karua said the government showed reluctance in dealing with perpetrators of the first NYS scandal giving room for the second scam.

She asked Kenyans to come out and safeguard their resources from a section of selfish and greedy State officials who are out to satisfy their selfish needs.

President Kenyatta is under pressure to act on State officers named in graft scandals.

On Monday several top government officials among them Public Service Principal Secretary Lilian Omollo and NYS director General Richard Ndubai were arrested over the Sh8 billion NYS scam.

Omollo, Ndubai and others were today (Tuesday) arraigned in court to answer to corruption charges.

The DPP has appointed a team of 13 prosecutors to prosecute the NYS scam suspects.
