Former Kirinyaga Gubernatorial candidate Martha Karua has congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy after the Supreme Court upheld their re-election.  The Narc Kenya leader called upon the president-elect to embark on uniting Kenyans. The ruling comes at a time when political temperatures have been rising in different parts of the nation after the opposition pulled out of rerun.

“The Supreme court has spoken! I Wish @UKenyatta well as he embarks on the task of uniting a fractured nation & ensuring equal protection of the law for all” he said, as quoted by The Star.

The Supreme Court unanimously upheld the outcome of the October exercise paving way for the swearing-in ceremony of the head of state. The court nullified the outcome of the August election on the grounds that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not adhere the constitution when conducting the exercise.

The decision of the Supreme Court comes at a time when National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga has maintained that he will not recognize Uhuru’s win.

The opposition leader has been pushing for the formation of an interim government. The call for the interim government has, however, not augured well with leaders aligned to the Jubilee regime.
