Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat hopeful Martha Karua has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to campaign for his own votes and let locals decide who to elect for other seats.
According to the former Gichugu MP, President Uhuru’s call for six-piece voting is killing independent aspirants and those seeking gubernatorial, senatorial, Woman Representative, Member of Parliament (MP) and the Member of County Assemblies (MCAs) seats from smaller parties in the Jubilee Party perceived strongholds.
Karua said that she supports UhuRuto’s re-election but their call for six-piece voting is hurting.“We are solidly behind President Kenyatta’s re-election on August 8 but his call for six piece voting is undermining our campaigns as people from smaller parities and independents,’ she said as quoted by the Star.President Kenyatta has been calling for six piece voting in Jubilee strongholds.A section of independent candidates have come out to oppose Uhuru’s call for six piece termini it undemocratic. The President and his Deputy William root are rooting for six piece in their strongholds.Political analysts warn that Uhuru’s call for six piece and sidelining of independent candidates will deny him votes especially in Mt Kenya region.President Kenyatta is expected to campaign in Kirinyaga County on Friday (tomorrow) where a titanic gubernatorial battle between incumbent Joseph Ndathi, former Devolution Anne Waiguru and Narc leader Martha Karua is expected on August 8.
Waiguru is flying the JP ticket while Ndathi is seeking re-election as an independent after losing the party nomination.
