Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has refused to reveal whether she will support President Uhuru Kenyatta saying that such choices are personal.
Saying that the secrecy of the ballot should be respected, Karua who was speaking on Citizen TV’s Cheche on Wednesday morning said that all the 30 branches of Narc Kenya will make individual decisions on which presidential candidate to back.
"Narc Kenya will not be taking a collective decision on which presidential candidate to back in 2017.
However, I can reveal that all the Mt Kenya branches have agreed that they will support President Uhuru Kenyatta and I respect their choice," said Karua.
She added: "What I will not do is to come here on TV and categorically state that I will be supporting this particular candidate because as the party leader I might compromise the decisions of other branches that are outside Mt Kenya region that are yet to take a decision on their presidential candidate."
Karua maintained that her party will not field a presidential candidate but will have aspirants in all other elective posts.
"I will vie for Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat against a Jubilee Party candidate and I will campaign together with other contestants vying for other seats by Narc Kenya ticket. Narc Kenya is not part of any alliance and is not going to be part of any," Karua added.
