Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru will have a hard time in her race to the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race. This is after Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua , who is eyeing the Kirinyaga governorship, and Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari , teamed up to beat her.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Nation, Gitari who lost the Jubilee gubernatorial ticket to waiguru during the primaries revealed that he will deputise Karua in the event they win on August 8.
"We have met and agreed that we should team up in order to take up the county's top leadership," Gitari told the Nation.
He added, "Our unity is now official and we shall now [beat our opponents] hands down."
The legislator said he opted to be Karua’s running mate after several consultations adding that a memorandum of understanding they drew will soon be made public.
"After failing to clinch the Jubilee ticket, I met Ms Karua and we discussed how we can work together. We met several times and finally we came to the conclusion that we can unite for a common goal," said Gitari.
The law maker expressed confidence Narc Kenya party leader is the best suited for the county’s top seat due to her clean leadership.
"Ms Karua is a clean leader who I can be proud to work with. She is also a competent and brave leader who can bring about development in the region," said Gitari.
