Kirinyaga gubernatorial hopeful Martha Karua has warned the locals against electing her rival and former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru for the county's top seat.
The two are gunning for the position currently held by governor Joseph Ndathi.
Speaking during a series of political meetings, Karua argued that Waiguru cannot be entrusted with the county's resources after the National Youth Service scam that rocked Waigur's docket.
“Ms Waiguru failed to tame corrupt officials in the NYS when she was a Cabinet secretary and that is why more than Sh1 billion was looted. She does not deserve to be elected the governor,” she said.
“Residents should not dare entrust the region’s resources to a leader whose ministry was riddled with corruption,” she added.
Karua will be vying on her Narc Kenya ticket, whereas Waiguru will be eyeing the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Governor Ndathi will be looking to recapture the seat as an independent candidate after losing the Jubilee Party ticket during the primaries.
