Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has said that her dream of becoming Kenya’s first woman president is still alive.

Karua says that she has not shelved her ambition of being the country’s first woman president.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Karua said that she will be on the presidential ballot after serving two terms as Kirinyaga governor if elected in the August 8 polls.

“My dream of being Kenya’s first woman president has not yet died, it is still alive but for now I am taking a step by step,” she said during the interview.

Karua who has contested in previous presidential elections said that her focus now is to clinch the Kirinyaga governor seat in August.

“My great focus is to win the Kirinyaga seat which I am certain that I will clinch come August 8,” she said.

The former Gichugu MP exuded confidence of beating her main rival former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru who is vying on Jubilee Party ticket.

Karua said that Kirinyaga people need a governor who is experienced saying she is the right candidate for the job.

She said Waiguru has no political experience to make key decisions as Kirinyaga governor.

Karua who will be contesting on her Narc Kenya Party urged Waiguru and other aspirants to engage locals on issues and shin propaganda.

“I want to urge my rival Anne Waiguru and others to engage Kirinyaga people on agenda and avoid propaganda that could cause divisions among our people,” she added.

Karua will be battling Waiguru for the top seat in August.

Waiguru floored incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi in Jubilee Party nominations two weeks ago to clinch the ticket.

The former CS says that she has an agenda of transforming the social-economic lives of Kirinyaga people if elected in the August 8 polls.

Political analysts say that the battle for Kirinyaga top seat will be among those to watch out for in the August 8 polls.
