President Uhuru Kenyatta has lauded Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua for shelving her presidential ambitions and endorsing his re-election in the 2017 election.
The President, upon arrival in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday, embraced the former Gichugu MP to show that her support for Jubilee administration was welcome.
Referring to her as 'My Sister', Kenyatta said he recognised Karua during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Machakos County as he believed she was a heroine.
"I want to welcome my sister home. I have always known her to be a 'njamba' (heroine) and that is why I recognised her as such during Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Machakos," he said.
Karua has been a fierce critic of the Jubilee government, especially on how it has handled the war on corruption, electoral reforms and the rule of law.
At the same time, Kenyatta once again asked Karua to join Jubilee Party.
Speaking after launching medical equipment at the Kerugoya Referral Hospital, Uhuru said he recognised her effort and is willing to work with her in the same house.
She hit the headlines two weeks ago after voicing her support for Uhuru and declaring that she will vie for Kirinyaga governor in 2017 polls.
The former Justice Minister will battle it out with the incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi, former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru, Kirinyaga Central MP Joseph Gitari and Muriithi Kagai.
