Karua also dismissed speculations that she has already formally declared her interest in the seat and noted that her party is currently laying plans to boost their participation at all levels in the coming elections.

She, however, stated that if at all she was eying the seat, then she will say it in Kirinyaga and not in Nakuru where she was attending a two-day meeting of the party’s National Executive Council .

The former Justice Minister argued that her political party is offering a platform for all Kenyans with leadership ambitions to run for office despite their financial background because leadership is a function of character and not the depth of one’s pockets.

The Narc-Kenya leader also took issue with the apparent high ceilings set by the Campaign Financing Regulations saying that it makes politics a preserve of the wealthy therefore scaring the ordinary mwananchi.

If Karua vies for the seat, she is facing a stiff competition from former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
