Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to guarantee Kenyans free, fair and credible August 8 election.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the party National Delegates Conference at St Andrews Auditorium in Nairobi, Karua asked the IEBC to put in place mechanisms that will guarantee the country fair and credible election.

She said the poll agency has the responsibility to ensure free and fair polls.

Karua stated that the election will be peaceful if the IEBC guarantees fairness and credibility.

“The IEBC must do everything possible to ensure the August 8 general election is free, fair, transparent and credible,” she said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

She also asked the Wafula Chebukati led commission to extensively sensitise Kenyans on the electoral process saying Kenyans must be educated on what to expect and do during the polling day.

The Narc Kenya leader at the same time warned politicians against issuing threats to the polls agency.

She said that IEBC is an independent commission and should be left to perform its work without interference

Meanwhile, Karua has warned Kenyans voting for politicians who are hungry for power. The Kirinyaga governor hopeful claimed that some politician’s major interest in the August polls is to get to power and not to serve locals.

She said that time has come for voters to make wise decisions and reject politicians who only care for their own selfish interests.

“Kenyans must be wise and make the right decision at the ballot on August 8,” she said.
