Two women leaders from Mt Kenya region have joined the list of people from which Deputy President William Ruto may pick his running mate ahead of the 2022 general election.
Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua's names were on Saturday slotted into the list of Ruto's probable running mates when Kenyans go to the polls to elect the man or woman who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Waiguru and Karua's names are said to have been proposed by leaders close to Ruto both in Rift Valley and Central Kenya.
Those fronting the two women leaders are Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi (Rift Valley) and Moses Kuria (Gatundu, Jubilee).
The four legislators are backing Ruto's State House bid.
Waiguru and Karua are part of a long list of politicians published in a leading local daily on Saturday who are said to have credentials enough to qualify them to deputize Ruto when the former Eldoret MP takes his first stab at the presidency in 2022.
Ruto on Saturday toured Kiambu County accompanied by Moses Kuria who said he is ready to rally central Kenya voters to cast their votes in favour of Ruto in 2022.
