Narc Leader Martha Karua has voiced her opinion on the ongoing debate on the electoral laws amendment, calling for dialogue to reach an amicable solution.
Karua, who is eyeing the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in this year’s elections has warned that it will be detrimental for the country to go to the polls divided along such lines.
“We’re not late yet, (for dialogue), if our leaders feel it is essential that they debate on it one more time so that we move as a united country, we are not late,” she said.
“If we forge a head as a united nation, our country will be great, but if we move with others lamenting, the journey becomes rough,” she added.
The bill was passed in the senate on Thursday, in a battle that saw Jubilee senators take on their opposition counterparts in a heated debate.
Cord officials have planned for a meeting next week to deliberate on their next move on the matter, after initially threatening to take to the streets in case the bill was passed without amendments.
Some Jubilee members have dared the Cord leaders to go ahead with their planned mass action plans, even as the clock ticks towards the election date.
