While insisting that her interest in national politics is still solid, the former Gichugu MP said her interest in the Kirinyaga governor seat in 2017 is not selfish but for service delivery to the people.

"My interest in national politics is still there, for now it has been given a back banner because counties are as important and my candidature is an opportunity to improve the lives of the people of Kirinyaga because the revolution of this country will come from the counties," said the former Cabinet Minister.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV breakfast show, Karua said she is best suited to be the next Kirinyaga County boss as her track record on development is evident from the time she served as an MP.

"I served Gichugu people for 20 years and they know what I did there. Now I want to serve the whole county to ensure public resources are well managed for people to realise the dream of devolution," she added.

Karua added that she will continue criticising the government on issues of corruption and mismanagement of public resources.
