Kennedy Muthugia Karume will remain in police custody after Kiambu police were granted 10 days to complete investigations into allegations that Njenga Karume's grandson murdered his fiancée.
Police constable Kiongo Karima had asked for 14 days to complete the probe when Muthugia, a trained pilot, appeared before Kiambu principal magistrate Justus Kituku on Tuesday.
Muthugia was arrested last Thursday night in connection with the death of Victoria Wairimu who was reported dead after falling from the fourth floor of their house in Kiambu town.
Victoria Wairimu was confirmed dead moments after falling from the balcony of their house within Gracia Apartments owned by the former minister and Kiambu tycoon Njenga Karume.
The suspect's lawyer, Stephen Kibunja, said the suspect was beaten by a mob before he was arrested and needed medical attention as he sustained head and ear injuries.
Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku ordered police to take the suspect to a doctor.
