Students paralysed learning after the transfer of a male teacher from the school. The students demonstrated for the better part of Wednesday breaking classroom and dormitory windows.

The School was closed following a directive from Machakos County Ministry of Education through the County Education officer.

Confirming the incident, Machakos Education officer Richard Midaba who arrived at the school on Wednesday afternoon stated that together with the School Committee they had settled on a decision to close the school indefinitely.

“I have met with the School Board of Management and decided to release the students as the School closes down to avoid more damage of School property,” said Midaba.

According to Midaba the Committee decided to stop the teacher from teaching in the School following allegations of involving in sexual intercourse with a female student in the same school.

“The teacher is accused of befriending a form three student, a behaviour the Committee said forced them to summon him and temporarily suspend him from teaching as investigations go on,” added Madiba.

However, the teacher who is employed by the Board of Management is said to have incited the students on Tuesday night which led to the protest on Wednesday.

Midaba has however issued a stern warning to all teachers in Machakos County not to get involved in such unbecoming behaviours with their female students, “It is crime for a teacher to befriend his / her student.”

The Machakos Education officer said that the School will remain closed until next week on Monday.
