Mombasa Senator hopeful Hazel Katana has pledged to push for the interests of residents in the Senate if elected in the August 8 general election.

Speaking when she launched her senatorial bid at Mvita grounds, Mombasa on Thursday, Katana promised servant leadership if elected.The Mombasa deputy governor who ditched ODM and joined Jubilee said residents have not been well represented in the Senate for the last four years.She said her agenda will be to draft and push for laws and policies that will better the living standards of residents.“I am ready to offer servant leadership if given the chance to be Mombasa’s next senator on August 8,” said Katana, as quoted by the Nation.Katana also vowed to stamp-out drug and substance abuse in the coastal city.She said drug abuse remains a big obstacle to realization of socio-economic development in Mombasa.The Jubilee senator hopeful also pledged to push for laws that will create jobs for young people and empower women and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD).She urged residents to endorse Jubilee candidates saying the ruling government has a vision for the Coast region.She asked residents to remain calm and peaceful as they wait to vote on August 8.
