AFC Leopards needed the legs of Gilbert Fiamentyo and Ugandan Allan Kateregga to see off stubborn Nzoia Sugar in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played at the Kenyatta Stadium Machakos on Saturday.
Ingwe began the tie on a composed note but it was the speedy Nzoia who capitalised on a defensive lapse of Leopards' backline to see Elvis Rupia grab his first in the 10th minute.
The duel went to the halftime break with the visiting league newcomers leading 1-0.
At the restart, Leopards coach Stewart Hall brought in Ugandan Allan Kateregga for Joshua Mawira and this paid off immediately with the side beginning to show life in the midfield and invading the millers' half constantly.
Leopards immediately earned a corner that was taken by Duncan Otieno and headed in by Fiamenyo in the 46th minute to make matters 1-1.
Hall's boys earned another corner in the dying minutes of the game and this was taken by Otieno who this time round found the head of Kateregga into the goal for the second and winner for Ingwe.
Leopards are now placed second on the log on six points after two games, one behind leaders Bandari who have played a game more. The loss demoted Nzoia from the lead to sixth position with four points after three games.
